The public service broadcaster earlier this year confirmed the Dublin show would be back in 2027, four years after the second season aired.
Speculation had been rife that the show may not return after film company Bron Studios filed for bankruptcy.
Fortunately, RTÉ last month confirmed the show would be returning with Metropolitan Pictures on production duties.
Created by Peter McKenna and Ciaran Donnelly, the show follows the fictional Kinsella crime family as they battle rival gangs while trying to protect their own assets.
Not much is known of the storylines for the third season, though RTÉ have said "the greatest threat to the family empire becomes the family itself."
A full cast list has not been confirmed, but one person we know who has returned to the show is Emmett J Scanlan, who plays Jimmy Kinsella.

The Dublin native took to Instagram on Tuesday, revealing filming for the new series has begun.
Taking to his Instagram Story, Emmett shared a picture of the door of his dressing room, which had a sign with both his name and his character’s name.
"As you were," Emmett teased, "#Kin 3."
He followed up with a clip shared to the grid, sharing ‘this has been years in the making.’

He said: ‘" can’t believe I get to finally — no, I can believe… I’m just utterly grateful that I get to finally say, 'Day one; season three of Kin.'
"The feeling is… good. The view from my apartment is Ireland. The view is Dublin. This journey may very well prove to be the best one yet."
