The outspoken rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) this week to share a surprising update about her ancestry, writing: "Connacht Ireland? I guess I have ancestry from there?, they keep changing this sh*t wtf. [sic]"

While the revelation might have come as a shock to fans, it didn’t take long for Irish social media users to recall Banks’ very rocky history with Ireland.

Back in 2019, the "212" star made headlines for all the wrong reasons ahead of a sold-out show at The Academy in Dublin.

Before even taking to the stage, Banks was involved in a row with staff at Aer Lingus, during which she labeled Irish women "ugly" in a series of posts and videos that quickly went viral.

Aer Lingus later confirmed it has a "strict no tolerance policy towards disruptive guest behavior" following the incident.

Banks, meanwhile, claimed she had been treated "like an animal" by airline staff, alleging she was questioned while trying to locate her passport and felt "cornered" by crew members.

The drama didn’t stop there. After arriving in Ireland, the rapper went on to post a series of offensive comments on social media, referring to Irish people as "inbred leprechauns" and asking: "Don’t you have a famine to go die in?"

Despite the backlash, Banks still went on to perform her scheduled Dublin gig, though not before an unexpected detour, as she reportedly had to travel by ferry after the airline incident.

Now, with her latest claim of Irish heritage, specifically linking herself to Connacht, fans are reacting with a mix of disbelief and humor online.

"She came here before and did nothin but insult us the entire time. She got real nasty about it, even tho we were nice to her she spat in our faces," one user wrote.

"We do not claim you," another penned, while a third shared: "You’re absolutely not welcome here."
