Video footage of Siobhan Magnus’ early music career has emerged, and it shows her belting out rock songs as the lead singer of a band in a Cape Cod bar.

The video, discovered by local station, Cape Cast, shows Magnus singing in a deep, shouty voice at the Black Spot Cafe with her band Lunar Valve.

Her hair is short and spiky and she sings at the top of her voice in the darkened pub.

“She stands on the stage and that’s her stage,” a fellow band member said. “She brings all the attention to her and you can’t take your eyes off her when she sings.

“She can do the rock stuff, no problems,” he continued in the interview with Cape Cast. “Her preference is more the rock stuff than the pop stuff.

“She’s very into the punk scene. We played a lot of punk songs with our band. She also really enjoys Janis Joplin, we played a couple of her tunes.”

Magnus has got through to the next round of American Idol, along with 19 other contestants. On March 11, the show’s host Ryan Seacrest will announce who will make it to the top 12.

Magnus, whose family are from County Galway, may be shy, as she has stated in an earlier interview, but there was no sign of that in her video with Lunar Valve. She looks like a born performer, who loves the stage.
