IrishCentral would like to unreservedly apologize to John McGuirk, editor of Gript Media, for identifying him as “far-right” in an article dating back to March 2021.

The article, published on March 22, 2021, and entitled "RTÉ pays €20,000 to charity after Irish republican party falsely accused of murder", related to Mr. McGuirk's appearance on RTÉ "Prime Time" on March 2, 2021.

The article in question referred to Mr. McGuirk as "far-right" in addition to including quotes using the same term. IrishCentral would like to sincerely apologize for any offense caused and any harm done to Mr. McGuirk's reputation.

As Editor of Gript, Mr. McGuirk is a prominent conservative voice in Ireland and regularly appears on current affairs talk shows on Irish television. IrishCentral acknowledges that it was unfair to characterize him as "far-right".

IrishCentral also acknowledges that the term carries certain connotations and would like to once again apologize for referring to Mr. McGuirk as such.

On reflection, it would have been more accurate and more fair to refer to Mr. McGuirk as conservative.
