Residential property prices are skyrocketing in Ireland, but the good news is that affordable homes can still be found in a few counties.
The average price paid for a house in Ireland is €247,771 (approx.$277,397), according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO), which recently published its residential property index for April. According to the report, prices of property in the nation have increased by 10.5 percent in the 12 months to April.
But the index showed that although property prices have increased all across Ireland, there are three counties where you can purchase a house for under €100,000 (approx.$111,957).
In Co. Longford the average house price is €88,837 (approx.$99,459); in Co. Leitrim, it is €97,637 (approx.$109,311), and in Co.Roscommon, €99,117 (approx.$110,968).
The most expensive place to purchase a home is Dublin, where house prices are up 8.1 percent, and the average home costs €389,895 (approx.$436,515).
In Leinster, Wicklow had the most expensive houses, costing an average of €315,013 (approx.$352,679), while in Connacht, Galway was the most expensive county — where a house can set you back €171,060 (approx.$191,514) on average. Cork had the most expensive homes in Munster, costing €212,005 (approx. $237,354).
