New research reveals that County Dublin is the most popular destination for British tourists, while County Kerry stands out as a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
British tourists account for about 30 to 35 percent of all overseas arrivals to Ireland in a typical year, so it's interesting to see what their Google searches related to their vacations reveal.
Holidu, the holiday rental portal, analysed average monthly Google searches by British tourists over the past 12 months to determine which destinations served by Ryanair offer the best value and interest. Dublin’s appeal lies in its ability to combine centuries of history with a lively contemporary atmosphere. From touring Trinity College and the Book of Kells, to enjoying live music in Temple Bar, and exploring the Guinness Storehouse or Jameson Distillery, the capital offers something for everyone. Add in affordable flights from the UK and a welcoming vibe, and it’s easy to see why Dublin leads the pack.
County Kerry
In contrast, County Kerry has flown somewhat under the radar. With just 770 average monthly searches, it was named the 6th least-searched destination among Ryanair’s routes. But don’t be fooled by the numbers: Kerry is a treasure trove for those in search of Ireland’s raw natural beauty and heritage.
