Nemanja Vidic’s dismissal against Liverpool means he will miss Manchester United’s next two games.

Despite being shown a straight red card for dragging down Steven Gerrard, consensus after the game was that Vidic would be suspended only for this coming Saturday’s game with Fulham.

However, the fact that it was his second sending off of the season – his first also came against Liverpool – means that he will also be unavailable for the visit of Aston Villa on April 5.

That particular fixture will be brought forward to Saturday April 4 should United be drawn to play their Champions League quarter final, first leg on the following Tuesday.

Vidic will not be at Sir Alex Ferguson’s disposal regardless of the date as was confirmed by a statement on the Football Association’s official website on Monday morning.

The statement confirmed that the Serbia defender will be "suspended from all football until the club have completed two first-team matches for a sending off in a match played on 14/03/2009."
