LeBRON JAMES INVESTS IN LIVERPOOL

NBA superstar LeBron James is now a shareholder in Liverpool Football Club.
Fenway Sports Group, the club’s American owners, have confirmed that James has taken a minority stake in LFC.
FSG have struck a deal to partner the Miami Heat player’s sports-marketing firm, LRMR Branding & Marketing, represent James worldwide with the Liverpool investment part of their new arrangement.
James said: “I am thrilled to be working with John Henry and Tom Werner.
“These guys, like me, have a passion for sports. You can see the drive and commitment they have for their teams. For me, this is about being in business with an organization that loves sports as much as I do.”
FSG and Liverpool Chairman Tom Werner said in a statement: “We believe this will be a powerful collaboration between FSM and LRMR and LeBron. There are very few athletes who can match his global reach, appeal and iconic status.
“We are very excited that LeBron will be part of the Liverpool FC family. LeBron and Liverpool each has a powerful presence internationally, with particular strength in Asia.
“We feel the business opportunities for both working and being identified together in emerging international markets will result in unforeseen opportunities that neither would have been able to realize alone.”

ROONEY HIT WITH TWO GAME BAN

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will serve a two match ban for his foul mouthed rant at the TV cameras after scoring a hat-trick at West Ham last Saturday.
Rooney was brought back down to earth after his Champions League winner at Chelsea on Wednesday night when he was hit with the two game ban on Thursday morning.
The England star had admitted to the outburst but appealed, unsuccessfully, against the two game suspension.
He will now miss Saturday’s Premier League clash with Fulham at Old Trafford and the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City at Wembley the following weekend.
Rooney said: “I am gutted to miss two matches, one of which is an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
“I am not the first player to have sworn on TV and I won’t be the last.
“Unlike others who have been caught swearing on camera, I apologized immediately. And yet I am the only person banned for swearing. That doesn’t seem right.
“Whatever, I have to accept that what’s happened has happened and move on from here. That is what I intend to do.”
United have also expressed their disappointment at the suspension.
A statement from the club said: “Manchester United is clearly very disappointed with the decision.
“The club put forward a very strong case to have the punishment reduced, which was unsuccessful.
“Wayne apologized immediately after the match and the club now wishes to move to on to what hopefully will be a very exciting conclusion to the season.”
Rooney suffered another blow on Wednesday when Coca Cola brought an end to their lucrative sponsorship deal with the player, believed to be worth over $3million.
