Padraig Harrington could not make a fourth round charge at the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta as a final round one under par 69 saw him end the tournament in a tie for fourth place with Kenny Perry on four under par.

Phil Mickelson shot a final round 65 to win the Tour Championship in impressive style, three shots ahead of Tiger Woods, who won the FedEx Cup with his second place finish, and collected a check for $10 million in the process.

Consecutive bogeys on the fifth and sixth holes saw Harrington slip out of contention and with Mickelson making a charge over his round, the Dubliner was never really a factor.

That said, he rattled off four birdies over the rest of his round before a bogey at the last ended Harrington’s day on a sour note.

However, the $700,000 he pockets as a bonus for his seventh place in the Fedex Cup and the rediscovery of the form that won him three majors in 15 months will give him a great confidence boost as he heads home to finish his season on the European Tour.
