Celtic took the three points at home to Hapoel Tel Aviv in their Group C Europa League game on Wednesday night, but the the victory was somewhat hollow as results elsewhere mean the Bhoys will exit the competition at the Group stages.

Greek international Georgios Samaras opening the scoring in the first half and Barry Robson added another in the second period, but Hamburg’s 2-0 win over Rapid Vienna meant that the Scottish team will not progress any further.

Before tonight's game Celtic were without a win in the competition, and the Hoops have one game left , a meaningless rubber tie against Rapid Vienna away on December 17.
