GILLBERT'S secured the league championship with a 1-1 draw with Velocity. After a scoreless first half, Velocity struck first with a breakaway goal as Gillbert's thought they had pulled Velocity offside.

With just a few minutes remaining, Gillbert's worked the ball up the field and in a three on three situation, Alexis Trinidad elected not to take her own shot, but to pass off to Jeanine Rynne, streaking to left post who beat the keeper with a fine opposite post shot.

Gillbert's had one last shot to break the tie on a last second corner by Aine O'Dwyer, but Sue Hannon's header went just over the cross bar. Keeper Jeannie Heinsohn also made a terrific save to keep Velocity from taking the lead with about five minutes to play. Sweeper Adrienne Wharton kept the defense in check throughout the game.

Jake's defense, anchored by Sue Volpe, was strong in the first half, with the two shots that made it in being part luck, part wind. Jake's took more shots on their opponents' goal in the second half and played increasingly aggressive, but they still came up short. Forwards Courtney Berman, Melissa Ryerson, Teresa Belling and Lara Kiang each made several shots.

The Tigers had a great game on Saturday, tying Parlour 2-2. The Tigers caught an unlucky break early on when a member of the defense attempted to clear the ball, and instead it went into their own goal.

The Tigers were able to come from behind, short-sided, when Sara Villagio crossed the ball to Sabita Krishnan who headed it in to tie the game 1-1. After Parlour scored in the second half, the Tigers came back once again with a header by Alyssa Meyers on a corner kick from Sara Villagio to tie the game at 2-2.

For Parlour, Miss Gregory scored off an assist from Andrea Gonzalez.

Ned Devine's beat Harps 2-0. Goal scorers for Ned's were Maura Fitzsimmons and Sarah McBride. Liz Lops played goalie and had an excellent save off a direct kick.
