Five other NHL teams are choosing to open their seasons in Europe, this is now the fourth consecutive year in which teams have  crossed the Atlantic to begin their campaigns.

The Bruins yesterday released their entire preseason schedule, which opens with a pair of rookie games September 14 to 15 against the New York Islanders.  The Bs then play five North America exhibition games.

The Belfast match will be played in the 10,000-seat Odyssey Arena. The arena’s resident club is the Belfast Giants, in existence since 2000.

The Boston Bruins are one of the most storied hockey teams in the NHL.  They are one of the “Original Six” Teams, officially forming back in 1924. They have won five Stanley Cups in their team history, and last season, the Bruins made it all the way to the semi-finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, eventually bowing out to the Philadelphia Flyers in the final match of their seven game series.
