While Croía has only appeared on baby girl charts, Croí has seen an uptick in popularity for both boys and girls, according to the CSO.

Last year, Croía, meaning ‘little heart’ skyrocketed to popularity being given to 188 baby girls in 2024, ranking in at 16th place on the overall charts.
Croí for girls has seen a slight rise in favour since first appearing on charts in 2019, being used three times that year, in 2020, and in 2023.
For boys, Croí has enjoyed a sharp rise in popularity, having remained on the charts since its return in 2018.
Sitting in the 749th spot seven years ago, when three Croís were born, it has since risen to 302nd on the list, with 13 baby boys given the name in 2024.
