Fáinne Óir (pronounced 'Fawn-ya-Or,' meaning 'The Gold Ring' in Irish) is the stunningly produced Irish contemporary dance musical based on The Great Hunger (An Gorta Mór) which is about to break new ground and here’s your chance to be part of it!

The show’s creator and executive producer Mayo woman Kathy Fahey, is looking to new horizons, as she plans to take Fáinne Óir (whose choreography was created by one of its main stars and former Riverdance star Ciara Sexton), forward to a more global audience.

This production, which is a unique hybrid of music, dance and dramatic recitation, is a timeless story of the Irish-American experience five generations in the making and it centres around the O'Malley family of Glanageeha,,set at the heights of the Great Hunger from 1845-1848 in idyllic West Mayo, it follows the life of the eldest daughter, the aptly named "Saoirse," as she journeys from her desolating fate in Ireland to the liberating opportunities of America.

Tragedy befalls the O'Malleys after the inconsolable disaster of mother Máire's sudden death, and as the blight of the potato crop threatens incessant demise to their family, father Seán makes the heartbreaking choice to send Saoirse away to New York in the hopes of saving them all.

Kathy is currently looking to engage interested parties who share her vision for this outstanding show, which was greatly received at its premiere in the Peter Norton Theatre in Symphony Space in New York, as well as shows around Ireland in The Olympia Theatre Dublin, Limerick, Castlebar and Claremorris.

She is currently looking to speak to anyone who has an interest in the arts and particularly Irish arts, who wish to invest in this moving and cultural masterpiece of Irish history and culture.

Kathy feels that with the right support this has the potential to become as much loved and cherished as legendary Irish cultural classics such as Dancing At Lughnasa, The Quiet Man and even Riverdance itself, amongst others.

Kathy is currently working with London based fellow Mayo native Éamonn Gallagher to speak to suitable partners for this initiative, to find out more please contact Éamonn on 004475 1555 1222.
