Irish American Siobhan Magnus was almost the only girl left standing when Crystal Bowersox tried to quit the show two weeks ago.

TMZ has revealed that Bowersox was about to walk away because of the pressure and was actually in the parking lot when host Ryan Seacrest caught up with her.

The Ohio native, whose performances have won huge praise even from Simon Cowell was on her way home to her parents, findng the pressure all too much.

Seacrest, however, persuaded her to stay telling her she could not give up her dream having come too far.

If she had walked Magnus would have been the only female left on the show -- at a time when 'Idol' executives make it clear privately they want a woman winner this year.

But with young girls doing the bulk of the voting and usually for guys that is becoming ever more difficult.

The news of the trouble for Crystal leaves Magnus is a suddenly strong position. The show needs a final two female entrant if it is to maintain its viewership.

It looks like Magnus has just received an unlikely boost with the news of Crystal's problems.

Bowersox is currently the even money favorite to win with Magnus at 10/1 according to Las Vegas bookies. Those odds might be about to change.
