Two Irishmen on their way to work were stopped and arrested by ICE

Two Irish men were arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Boston this week.

Galway Bay FM reports that the two men, whose names have not been released, are from counties Galway, specifically west Connemara, and Mayo. The man from Connemara is said to have been in the United States for a number of years.

Reportedly, they were both stopped by ICE when they were at a shop on their way to work.

Both of the Irishmen are now facing charges of residing and working in the United States while illegal and undocumented.

The two men are being detained in separate Massachusetts detention centers.

There is no indication as to when they may be sentenced or deported.

The arrest of the two men comes after Boston saw a 30 percent uptick in the detention of Irish immigrants in 2017.
