Heather Morrissey appeared on Newstalk’s Lunchtime Live on Wednesday afternoon, where she discussed her father’s detention in an ICE facility in Texas.

Séamus has been living in the US since 2009 and was taken by ICE last September in Boston.

Since then, he has been kept in a detention centre in El Paso, Texas, which he has described as a "concentration camp".

Heather slammed this likening on Newstalk, but clarified that she has not seen the conditions he is living in.

Instead, she took aim at his decision to stay in the facility rather than get deported back to Ireland.

Heather remarked: "If it is that bad, then he should come home."

She also revealed that while she has "never met" her father, Heather and her twin sister Melissa were invited out to visit him in the US last year.

However, Heather stated that she did not believe it was fair for the young women to have to go to Boston to see their father and that he should have come back to Ireland to see them.

She also detailed her fury at her father’s interview on Irish radio in which he spoke about missing his wife and his dogs – and never mentioned the fact that he had two children.

Like the rest of the public, Séamus’ daughters are following his story through the news and will only know if he is deported after it is known to the world.

Earlier in the week, Heather called out the GoFundMe page that has been set up for Séamus, which said his wife wanted him home "to see his babies", referring to the dogs the couple own.

Responding to the appeal, Heather said that her father should worry about his real children and not about the dogs.

Heather and Melissa have claimed that their father is "not the man people think he is" and said his claim that he has done "no wrong" is false.

The two young women said their mother has not received "a penny" in child maintenance from Seamus since he "abandoned" them.
