Rosie O’Donnell has spoken about how she saved a woman’s life while she was out for a meal in Dublin.

The comedian moved to Ireland with her child, Clay, last November following the 2024 US Presidential election, when Donald Trump — with whom she had been embroiled in a bitter and public feud for decades — beat Kamala Harris.

Rosie has spoken about her time in Ireland, where she’s been welcomed with open arms, over the past few months, but experienced a pretty terrifying encounter after a woman in her 90s began choking while out for a meal following a gig.

Rosie was at the Dylan Hotel following a show at the International Comedy Club with her cousin Mary and friend Kiki, but explained that she began scanning the restaurant, where she spotted the woman who was choking on her tuna tartare.

"I’m a hyper vigilant person. I always scan, try to figure people out and understand where I am and if everybody’s safe and well," Rosie explained on her TikTok.

"I see a 90-year-old woman choking. She’s with two women who are in their 50’s I’d guess. And I jump into action like I’m an EMT, which I’m not. I’m a stand-up comedian and actress.

"So I’m eating my tuna tartare and I go 'that woman is choking! That woman is choking!" she continued.

"I get up, nearly knock over the table and run over with Kiki and my cousin Mary."

Explaining that she took a CPR course, which includes the Heimlich manoeuvre, and was coaching her friend Kiki through the manoeuvre, saying "I’m telling her what to do and I’m trying to calm the woman down and the daughters are upset.

"My cousin Mary put a napkin in front of her and told her to get it out. I pushed Kiki’s hand and she got it and something came out, a big wad of stuff. It was unbelievable to me. I was thinking am I going to have to do a tracheotomy because I took a course and they told you what to do if it wasn’t working and you were in a dire situation – and we were in a dire situation."

Despite admitting that she nearly went into panic mode, the woman, who Rosie later learned was named Angela, was perfectly fine and returned to her meal, but Rosie was a bit more emotional following the ordeal.

"We’re all sort of crying and I’m trying to keep myself together," Rosie said. "I say 'god bless you and god bless all of us that we were able to help each other,' [then] I go back to my table and I can’t eat, I’m teary. And there’s Angela finishing her meal!

"God love her, it was unbelievable."

Rosie has been open about how Mr. Trump’s re-election was the catalyst for her move to Ireland, responding to Mr. Trump after he branded her a "threat to humanity" — sharing a photo of Mr. Trump with sex offender and disgraced financier, Jeffrey Epstein.

Speaking on Sunday with Miriam on RTÉ Radio 1, she said a friend alerted her to Trump’s comments just as she was settling in to watch Wimbledon.

"I reacted with a little post that I jotted off in five minutes, and that’s been getting a lot of attention online," she said, "I am very proud to be opposed to every single thing he says and does and represents."

She also noted that she’s far from alone in being on the receiving end of Trump’s online outbursts: "There’s a long list of celebrities he’s threatened, including Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift, Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Mark Ruffalo.

"There are activists, artists who have always spoken out in their lives and careers. It’s part of their public persona and their essence, and he’s against all of us.

"So, I didn’t take it personally, but I will tell you the way that he is has emboldened people like him."
