An investigation has been launched by An Garda Síochána [Irish police] following the harrowing discovery, which was made on Friday.
Mr Haire was a homeless man who was a client of the welfare and homeless services in Dublin and Cork.
It is believed he moved between the two counties, and Kilkenny, in the last week.
Gardaí confirmed the Office of the State Pathologist and the Garda National Technical Bureau were notified of Mr Haire’s death.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on Saturday, though it is understood the results were inconclusive, and the cause of Mr Haire’s death remains unknown.
A statement from Gardaí confirmed they were now investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death of the late Mr Haire.
They said: ‘Gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance in establishing the movements of Mr Haire between Friday 17th July and Friday 24th July 2026.
‘It is requested that anybody who knew or interacted with Mr Haire during this time or has any information that may be of assistance to this investigation to contact Ronanstown Garda Station on 01-666 7700, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.’
One line of inquiry is that Mr Haire could have fallen or climbed into a bin, and was taken to the recycling center where his body was discovered.
The death is being treated as suspicious, with an incident room set up at Lucan Garda Station, and a family liaison officer appointed to the family of Mr Haire.
