The Kerry Rose has been installed as the early favourite to take the crown at this year’s Rose of Tralee, with Ladbrokes making Caoimhe Lynch a 4/1 shot.
Should she win, Lynch would be the first local Rose to lift the title since 1964.
A teacher, she also founded a charitable organisation working with communities affected by poverty and social difficulties.

Completing the top three is Dublin Rose Suad Mooge at 6/1.

She works as a youth leader with Sports Against Racism Ireland, and is bidding to become the first Dublin Rose to win since 2003.

Roses will travel from across the globe for this year’s festival, with entrants representing the UAE and London at 25/1, Texas at 33/1, San Francisco at 40/1 and Newfoundland and Labrador at 66/1.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said the field remains wide open.
"It’s nearly time to take to the dome again. Early days still but the Kerry Rose tops the betting to begin with, with New York and Dublin following closely behind," she said. "It could all change before the first night."
