A 22-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Tristan Sherry at a Dublin restaurant on Christmas Eve. 

Sherry, 26, was fatally stabbed and assaulted following a shooting at Browne's Steakhouse in Blanchardstown at around 8 pm on Sunday. 

Michael Andrecut, with an address at Sheephill Avenue, Corduff, appeared before a special court sitting at the Criminal Courts of Justice on Saturday morning, December 30, charged with Sherry's murder. 

Detective Sergeant Mark Murphy told the court that Andrecut was charged with murder at Blanchardstown Garda Station at 11:47 pm on Friday, adding that the accused made no reply when charged. 

Brian Tunney, counsel for Andrecut, applied to the court for free legal aid on behalf of his client. Judge Stephanie Coggans granted the request. 

Judge Coggans remanded Andrecut in custody until January 2, when he will appear before Cloverhill District Court. 

Gardaí said on Monday, December 25 that they were investigating an incident that occurred at premises on the Main Street in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 at around 8 pm on Sunday, December 24. 

Two males were taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital on Sunday evening to receive medical treatment.

One of the males, Sherry, was pronounced deceased in hospital a short time afterward.

A second male, aged in his 40s, was in serious condition as of Monday.

An Garda Síochána said on Monday that it is aware of videos of the incident and immediate aftermath which are in circulation on social media and messaging apps.

"We are appealing to the public for these videos not to be further distributed," An Garda Síochán said.

"We are also appealing to the public to be aware of a significant level of speculation, misinformation, and disinformation that is in circulation."

Gardaí said on Monday that they have increased uniform patrols in the Dublin Region, with support from armed patrols, including the Garda Armed Support Unit.
