The stunning California estate used to be home to Bing Crosby

The luxury California estate where President John F. Kennedy and starlet Marilyn Monroe would allegedly meet at is on the market.

Vintage News reports that the Rancho Mirage, CA house is listed at $5 million. Originally built for Bing Crosby in 1957, the Moroccan-themed estate boasts five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a pool.

The famous house, which at a time included Ginger Rogers and Lucille Ball as neighbors, has been on and off the market for years. It is sometimes used as an Airbnb rental with a hefty per-night rate of over $3,000.

The 6,700 square foot house sits on 1.36 acres of land and offers “expansive and unobstructed views” of Coachella Valley.

Fortune reports that Linda Taglianetti, Fredrik Eklund, John Gomes, and Gail Vasquez of Douglas Elliman Real Estate represent the listing at 70375 Calico Rd.

“The home is all about indoor-outdoor living and traditional-meeting-modern design — and it overlooks such a gorgeous backdrop,” realtor Frederik Eklund told Fortune.

Fortune magazine added, “What other listing can offer the chance for caroling around a pool and fire pit with such a level of celebrity history?”

“Along with a well-proportioned main structure with retractable glass walls, the purchase includes an adjacent half-acre lot on which owners can build a small guest house for future presidential affairs.”

If rumors are to be believed, the estate’s two-bedroom casita is where JFK and Monroe secretly met.

The real estate listing coyly says the house is “fabled to have housed one of our former presidents and his legendary guest, thereby earning its name, the JFK Wing.”

Donald Spoto, a Marilyn Monroe biographer, says the rumors of an affair between Kennedy and Monroe are difficult to substantiate.

“All that can be known for certain is that on four occasions between October 1961 and August 1962, the president and the actress met.”

One of the four occasions that Spoto references happened at the Rancho Mirage house on March 24, 1962, when both Kennedy and Monroe were guests of Crosby.

Spoto says that Monroe reportedly told confidante Ralph Roberts “that this night in March was the only time of her ‘affair’ with JFK.”.

Roberts said, “Marilyn gave me the impression that it was not a major event for either of them. It happened once, that weekend, and that was that.”
