Robbie Keane has confirmed he has agreed terms on a new two year contract with the LA Galaxy that will see him end his career in America – and he may require surgery on his Achilles tendon.

Keane is to see a specialist on Monday after the injury kept him out of the startling line-up for Tuesday’s friendly in Poland.

The Ireland captain admitted surgery is the likely remedy. “It is kind of looking like that but I won’t know for definite until Monday. But there is definitely something that will have to be done, and that is likely to be it,” Keane said.
