Sligo moved on into the Junior B semifinals after overcoming a stubborn Shannon Gaels side 5-7 to 1-11.

Niall Judge was man of the match for Sligo, scoring 3-3 as goals were in season in this one.  Rob Gaynor and Dylan McCabe also chipped in on the score sheet for Sligo.

Shannon Gaels must be asking what happened in the second half as they could only muster up three points after leading 1-4 to 1-7 at halftime. Pat Duek, Tiernan Mathers and Danny Connide got scores for Gaels in the first half.

Judge got the game back to within two with his 32nd-minute effort. Eight minutes later he was collecting his second goal of the day to make it 2-5 to 1-9.

Sean Smith made it 2-5 to 1-10 in the 47th minute, but two minutes later it was Gaynor’s turn to strike goal for Sligo with a seeing-eye daisy cutter to the back corner of the Shannon Gaels net.

At 3-5 to 1-10, Sligo went for the kill and quickly made it 5-7 to Shannon Gaels 1-11.

With the win, Sligo moves on to the Junior B semifinals to face either Westmeath or St. Barnabas.
