Bummer on the career front for Jonathan Rhys Meyers. His NBC series Dracula was canned by the network last week after only one season.

The show, which also co-starred Irish actress Victoria Smurfit, pulled in so-so ratings and never generated any kind of fan excitement. But it did make headlines because NBC bosses withheld part of JRM’s salary until the 10-episode order was completed because of his past history with substance abuse.

Nevertheless, Golden Globe winner Rhys Meyers continues to work. He’ll soon start filming The Secret Scripture, based on Sebastian Barry’s novel. The movie will open next year, and it co-stars Jessica Chastain and Vanessa Redgrave.
