The Dublin-Meath rivalry will be renewed in the semifinals of the Leinster club football championships when St. Vincent’s will meet Royal county champions Summerhill. Vincent’s defeated Westmeath’s St. Loman’s by 0-11 to 0-9 in their semifinal while Summerhill scored a 2-13 to 1-13 victory over the Newtown Blues from Louth.
Moorefield of Kildare will play Longford Slashers or Portlaoise in the second Leinster semifinal . . .
DUBLIN midfielder Michael Darragh Macauley has been named Footballer of the Year for 2013 at the GPA/GAA All-Stars. Fellow Dubs Stephen Cluxton, Rory O’Carroll, Cian O’Sullivan, Paul Flynn and Bernard Brogan also won all-stars, while teammate Jack McCaffrey scooped the Young Footballer of the Year accolade.
