The new James Bond film Spectre is almost a year away from hitting theaters, but there’s already hot competition for the coveted job of writing the theme song.

Expressing an interest so far are DJ and producer Mark Ronson, whose single, “Uptown Funk” (featuring Bruno Mars) has held the top spot on the Billboard pop chart for three weeks.

Also throwing their (collective) hats into the ring are the guys of British boy band Take That. They’re joined by Lana Del Ray (seriously?) and Sam “Stay With Me” Smith, who is reportedly the bookmaker’s odds-on choice.

It’ll be interesting to see whether Smith’s recent royalties settlement with Tom Petty -- over the similarities between “Stay With Me” and Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” -- will work in his favor. Maybe Tom can lend a hand on the chorus.
