Lynn Browne hit her head after falling down the stairs on Mother’s Day

Lynn Browne is being remembered fondly after she died following a tragic Mother’s Day accident.

Browne, a mother of one, reportedly fell down the stairs and hit her head on a table on Sunday, resulting in a severe head injury. She reportedly later died in the hospital after being on life-support.

Ballymakenny College, where Browne was the Assistant Principal and Head of the Art Department, posted a statement on their website on April 1: "We learned this morning of the death of our beloved colleague and teacher, Lynn Browne.

"This is a terrible tragedy for the family, our school and our community. We are deeply saddened by this event. Our sympathy and thoughts are with her family and friends.”

“Lynn was a founding member of Ballymakenny College, an Art teacher and Assistant Principal. Her husband is our school caretaker.”

“We have been in contact with her family and they have requested that we all understand their need for privacy at this difficult time.”

“Offers of support have been pouring in and are greatly appreciated. Our school has implemented our Critical Incident Management Plan.”

“Psychologists from the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) and counselors from neighboring schools have been with us supporting and advising teachers in their efforts to assist our school community at this time.”

“We would ask you to respect our privacy at this time.”

Oliver Tully, a local councilor who is on the board of management at Ballymakenny College, said Browne would be “sadly missed by everybody in the school.”

“She really did contribute quite a lot to the school,” he said, adding that Browne was “personable” and “bubbly,” and always had her students’ best interests at heart.

The Irish Mirror reports that Browne’s family has requested that mourners wear bright colors to the beloved teacher’s funeral this week “as a tribute to Lynn’s personality and love of life.”
