The victim was understood to have been attending a nightclub event before a fight broke out at around 3am.

According to the Irish Independent, the man was a nightclub promoter who was originally from Nigeria but had been living in Ireland for some time.

It has been reported that he had been attending a gig at Bewley’s on Grafton Street before he was chased by the knife-wielder.

The fight involved two groups of people who spilt out onto the street, with the victim attempting to flee the venue through a side exit.

However, he was reportedly caught and stabbed at least three times, including once in the chest.

Gardaí are now reviewing CCTV footage to identify the killer and are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.

At least one other person, a young female, reportedly suffered non-life-threatening stab wounds close to the scene at around the same time.

Gardaí and emergency services found the male victim in a critical condition before transporting him to St James’ Hospital, where he was declared dead shortly afterward.
