Foul play is not suspected

The decomposing remains of a female body were discovered this week on a beach in Co Donegal.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that a member of the public made the discovery on Wednesday, January 23 before alerting authorities.

The discovery was made at a beach in Leenan, Clonmany at around 9.30am that day.

The body was removed to nearby Letterkenny University Hospital where state pathologist Dr. Margaret Bolster conducted a post-mortem examination the following day.

In a statement, gardai said: "The deceased has not yet been identified and investigations are ongoing.”

"Following the post mortem examination, foul play is not suspected. A file will be prepared for the Coroner."
