Fancy a night with Irish soccer legends Roy Keane and Martin O’Neill, London Mayor Sadiq Khan, and Lord of the Dance Michael Flatley? The Irish Post awards are for you. The London Irish newspaper’s annual awards gala will host 1,000 guests at Grosvenor House this Friday night, but thousands more will be able to stream video of the star-studded night via Facebook Live, which will be featured on IrishCentral.com and IrishCentral’s Facebook, in addition to the Irish Post’s Facebook page. Tune in from 2:15 pm EST (7:15 pm GMT).

The Irish Post awards celebrate the best of Irish talent in Britain. With a stellar line-up of well-known personalities and celebrities set to grace the red carpet, this year's glittering event promised to be the biggest on the Irish social calendar.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan will give the keynote speech. Khan has become a huge media and political figure since his election and his decision to attend the Irish Post awards is considered a great coup for the newspaper. The Labour mayor has previously spoken of his immense respect for the Irish community in Britain. Khan, a former Labour MP for Tooting who has also held positions including Minister of State for Transport, previously said he hopes to build closer links between Britain and Ireland during his time as Mayor.

“I want to build stronger links with Dublin and Belfast and showcase the innovation of London’s Irish community,” he told the Irish Post in May. “I’ve met so many Irish entrepreneurs across London, and I want to celebrate their creativity.”

Susan Whelan, Chief Executive Officer of Leicester City Football Club, is also set to attend the prestigious ceremony in London where she will accept an award for her Outstanding Contribution to Business in Britain.

The Dublin-born woman will receive the award after a remarkable year that saw unfancied Leicester City pull off one of the greatest miracles in sporting history when they defied odds of 5,000-1 to win the Premier League.

Actor Shane Richie, best-known for playing lovable rogue Alfie Moon on BBC soap "Eastenders," will also receive an Entertainment Legend Award.

A host of well-known faces will also be attending on the evening, including "Lord of the Dance" Michael Flatley, fashion designers Paul Costelloe and Louise Kennedy, "Big Brother" star Jayne Connery as well as "Irish Man Abroad" host and comedian Jarlath Regan.

Irish soccer legends Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane will also attend. O’Neill, originally from Derry, is the current manager of the Republic of Ireland soccer team and will accept an award for his Outstanding Contribution to the Sports Industry.

“Each of our recipients share a resolute desire to succeed along with an enterprising spirit and a passion for Ireland and this is embodied in our Award categories,” said Irish Post owner and publisher Elgin Loane.

“We look forward to seeing you all on the evening to celebrate the outstanding achievements and success of the many Irish in Britain.”
