The video, which has been viewed more than 30,000 times on Facebook according to the Irish Mirror, features a chicken on top of a bar pecking into a pint of Guinness.

It is unclear what pub or where the incident occurred.

In the video, pub patrons can be heard cheering the chicken on, saying: "We're after spending 4.30 (euro) on that pint. Drink up.”

“Go on you boyo, put your head in the pint."

The chicken was met with cheers when he dunked its head into the drink.

"What's the name of that cock?" one patron asks, to which he is told "Seamus."

The bar staff can be seen going about their business as the chicken sat atop the bar.

Gillian Bird, a spokeswoman for the DSPCA, told the Irish Mirror: "It's not something we would approve of. Alcohol shouldn't be fed to any sort of animal.

"Any animal being treated this way is disrespectful to it. Alcohol is a toxin and shouldn't be given to an animal.

"If anyone knows where this chicken is or has any information regarding its whereabouts we'd ask them to contact the DSPCA."
