Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis has condemned the baseball attack on Irish student Natasha McShane as ‘sick’ and vowed that all members of the force will do their utmost to bring the perpetrator of the crime to justice.

"That was just a sick crime. There was no reason for that type of violence at all,” he said.

"Our detectives are taking this one personal," Weis added. "This was just a horrendous act of violence."

Armagh native McShane (23) and her friend Stacy Jurich were on their way home when they were mugged and viciously attacked with a baseball bat early Friday morning.

Jurich is in a stable condition, while McShane remains critical. The Irish student’s family has flown to Chicago to be with her.

No arrests have been made thus far and the police are said to be looking for a man between the age of 27-34 years, about 5’8” tall, in connection with the attack.
