Boston-area woman Maria Good appeared in court in Ireland, charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a three-year-old boy in a horror smash.

Three year-old Eoin O'Neill, from Co Monaghan, died in the two-car crash outside Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan on May 4, 2013.

The accident occurred after the car being driven by his mother was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle driven by Good on the N2 Dublin to Derry road.

Maria Good, 26, from Somerville, outside Boston, was remanded on continuing bail of €1,000 ($1,400) by Judge Sean MacBride at Carrickmacross District Court.

Good appeared in court wearing a white blouse and beige combats and wearing a sling on her right arm from injuries sustained in the accident.

The case was adjourned for two weeks to the May 21 sitting of the court, awaiting final directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

There was no objection to bail from police present in court. However, the court ordered Goode to surrender her passport and to reside at an address at Magheracloone, Carrickmacross.

Judge MacBride stated that due to the seriousness of the offense, this was a case likely to be heard by a higher court.
