After five days, The Hangover: Part II has raked in $200 million worldwide and a US take of $137 million. If that's not enough reason to keep going on a roll of 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' strategy then what is?

The record-breaking success of The Hangover: Part II, has led Warner Bros. to start the wheels turning for a third run of messy wildness. The screenwriter Craig Martin, who co-wrote the latest Hangover is in early talks to write a third one.

Deadline reports, that the stars - Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms - are not under contract for a third film. Neither is director Todd Phillips, so if a third Hangover is to go ahead there will most probably be a stream of serious pay rises on the horizon.

While critics have berated the new movie as being too similar to and weaker than the first version, the director has mentioned during press tours that if a third Hangover movie was to be made it would bring major changes.

"Quite honestly we really haven't talked about it as we just finished the movie two weeks ago, this is the first time we've all been together in awhile," Phillips said at a recent press conference (via Huffington Post). "If we were to do a third one, if the audience... if the desire was there... I think we have a clear idea where that would head and it's certainly not in the same template you've seen these movies."
