The story of a wimpy kid in middle school managed to beat off ‘Sucker Punch’ at the weekend box office.

Despite five alluring, scantily clad female protagonists, a snotty nose middle school student attracted more movie goers this past weekend.

The 20th Century Fox sequel to “Dairy of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules” debuted at the number one movie with a raking in a massive $24.4 million according to studio estimates.

The vixen lead “Sucker Punch” trailed in second place opening with $20 million over the weekend.

The “Wimpy Kid” movies are based on the children’s books by Jeff Kinney, which chart the story of a timid school kid trying to cope with home and school life.

“Sucker Punch” directed by Zack Snyder showcased a band of fierce vixens, including Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish and Vanessa Hudgens  who escape from a mental hospital into a fantasy realm.

The lines of reality and imagination are blurred in the fantasy tale of repression, and a fight for freedom.
