Dublin native O'Connor - noted for her hit song "Nothing Compares 2 U" - was found dead in her flat in London on July 26, 2023. She was 56 years old. A coroner later ruled that she died of natural causes.

O'Connor's death came after she opened up about her life and career in her 2021 autobiography "Rememberings" and the 2022 documentary "Nothing Compares," both of which received rave reviews.

The Irish singer-songwriter's death was met with widespread tributes both in Ireland and abroad.

Thousands of people lined the streets of Bray, Co Wicklow to pay their respects on the day of the beloved singer's funeral on August 8.

O'Connor was laid to rest in the Garden section of Dublin's Deansgrange Cemetery, the same cemetery where her mother Johanna Marie O'Grady O'Connor, who died in a car accident in 1985, is buried.
