Sharon Horgan isn't one to divulge too much about her personal life, but for the first time, she has publicly confirmed she's happy in a steady relationship.

The 55-year-old actress is dating one of her "Bad Sisters" co-stars, and while she never mentioned her beau by name, it's widely believed her partner is Barry Ward, who plays DI Fergal Loftus in the hit show.

During her appearance on Jesse Tyler Ferguson's podcast "Dinner's On Me," Sharon revealed she met her beau, who is nine years her junior, while filming a project a few years back.

It's believed Sharon and Barry met on the set of the 2020 film "Dating Amber," a project in which they play a married couple, and she went on to cast him in "Bad Sisters,"  which she insists was a decision solely rooted in his acting talents.

When Jesse brought up the age difference between him and his husband Justin Mikita, Sharon said: "I’ve got a younger partner as well! Well, it’s actually nine years."

"I said 10 years for a while, and it freaked me out too much. It is nine years," she laughingly said, before clarifying: "I think initially I was like, 'Oh, that’s exotic being 10 years older.' I sort of got off on it. And then I was like, 'Oh, no, that’s not good.'

"We met years ago doing a film together, and then, you know, became friendly. And then a good few years later – this wasn’t on purpose, by the way – I cast him in 'Bad Sisters.'"

Sharon said the relationship was unexpected, explaining: 'It’s different when you’re my age. Being single again at my age was kind of a whole thing.

"It just feels like so much fun just to meet someone who you can have a laugh with and connect with. It’s surprising."

Sharon's relationship comes after she split from The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess, whom she was in a relationship with for two years, earlier this year.

The "Bad Sisters" creator was previously married to businessman Jeremy Rainbird between 2005 and 2019. The former couple share two daughters, Sadhbh and Amer, who are her doppelgängers.
