March 12, 2016 marks a new chapter for Premiership Rugby as London Irish takes on Saracens at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey. This will be the first premiership match to take place in the United States, marking a new period of growth for the international rugby community.

Premiership is the most competitive league in rugby. Although they are based in England they have a fast growing fan-base around the world and this milestone game is the first step in growing their American audience.

London Irish Chief Executive Officer, Bob Casey said: “This is an enormous opportunity for London Irish and a chance for our Club to gain exposure in one of the biggest sporting cities in the world.”

London Irish was founded in 1898 and has the largest following of any rugby club in the UK. They joined Aviva Premiership in 1996 and finished as runners-up in the 2008-2009 season.

Their opponent, Saracens, was founded in 1876 making them one of the longest-running sports clubs in the world. They were an original member of Premiership rugby and hold the championship titles for the 2010-11 and 2014-15 seasons.

The game will take place amidst the area’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and is sure to bring a festive crowd. To celebrate the event, London Irish will be wearing St. Patrick's Day inspired jerseys by world-renowned designer, Orla Kiely.
