U2 will welcome superstar rapper Jay-z onstage as a special guest on the Australian leg of their highly anticipated "360 Tour".

It's understood that Jay-Z will play for about an hour before the Irish rock group roars onto the stage.

The 10 Grammy winning rapper is regarded as one of the most successful cross over rap artists, and his stint with U2 will mark his second Australian visit.

It's not the first time the talented rap artist has teamed up with U2. In November 2009 he performed Sunday Bloody Sunday with the Irish rock group in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.

It's not yet known if his superstar wife, Beyonce, will also join him.

Tickets for the concert will range from $39.90 for the cheapest seats to $349.50 for Red Zone tickets close to the stage, with proceeds from those tickets to support AIDS work in Africa.
