Oh dear! Saoirse Ronan wasn't the only one to get an Award nod as Irish star Jamie Dornan's performance in Fifty Shades Darker get the thumbs down

Saoirse Ronan wasn’t the only Irish actor to be recognized for her acting, though we doubt that Jamie Dornan is too pleased with his shout-out -- a Worst Actor nod announced on Monday by the Razzie Awards.

Each year the Razzies (dis)honor performances of note…just not the kind with accolades like Saoirse’s Lady Bird.  Jamie was called out for playing Christian Grey in Fifty Shades Darker.

The competition is tough. Jamie will go up against Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Zac Efron and Mark Wahlberg, who was cited not once but twice for Daddy’s Home 2 and Transformers: The Last Night.

Razzie winners will be unveiled on March 3, by which time Jamie’s latest film, Fifty Shades Freed, will be out for nearly a month.  Which means that he’ll also be Razzie eligible next year, as Fifty Shades Freed is sure to be razzed by the critics, but loved by its female fans.

Dornan was on Graham Norton’s chat show in the U.K. last week, and he related a story about his lack of private part hair when he was a teenager, and how he was so insecure he cut up a wig to make himself look hairier.

“I was quite small and wasn't hairy at all – I was 15 and looked seven. On one particular day, I was in an amateur drama play and was going to a party after,” Jamie said.

“For my role, I had bits of a black wig glued to my face for a beard and I decided to keep it for the party so I would look older. I also decided to cut up the rest of wig and glue it to my private parts just in case I got lucky.”

Of course, that didn’t happen.  “I didn't get lucky and removing the bits of wig ripped out the very small amount of natural hair I had down there. It was a physically and emotionally painful experience!” he laughed.
