A collective of Irish female artists have released a touching version of Sinéad O'Connor's hit "Nothing Compares 2 U" in honor of the late Irish singer, with all proceeds going toward a charity chosen by O'Connor's family.

Irish Women in Harmony, who previously released a version of the Cranberries' hit song "Dreams" during the Covid-19 pandemic, have recorded the new track with John Reynolds, O'Connor's former producer.

Reynolds produced or performed on each of O'Connor's albums from her debut record "The Lion and the Cobra" in 1987 until her death in 2023.

O'Connor's family has asked for all funds raised by the new single to be donated to the Aisling Project, an after-school intervention program in Ballymun in North Dublin.

The charity provides support and a safe environment for children and young people, providing a wide range of activities.

Irish Women in Harmony is comprised of dozens of Ireland's best-known female artists, including Andrea Corr, Una Healy, and Moya Brennan.

It also includes Aimée, Ailbhe Reddy, Emma Langford, Erica-Cody, Eve Belle, Faye O'Rourke, Fia Moon, Gemma Doherty (harp), Krea, Loah, LYRA, Maria Ryan (strings), Melina Malone, Niamh Farrell, ROE, Róisín O, RuthAnne, SIBÉAL, SOULÉ, Stephanie Rainey, Saoirse Duane, and Tolü Makay.

RuthAnne, the founder of the all-female collective, said the group wished to celebrate O'Connor's life and career in addition to raising much-needed funds for the Aisling Project.

"It was so important for our collective to come back together for this very special tribute to an iconic Irish female artist like Sinéad O’Connor, who has had such a huge influence and inspired us all in our own careers," RuthAnne said in a statement.

"Sinéad paved the way for the rest of us, her legacy will live forever and we want to celebrate her, thank her, and raise much-needed awareness and funds for Aisling Project."

Mícheál Clear, Project Leader at the Aisling Project, said in the statement that the charity was "so grateful" to O'Connor's family for choosing it.

"Aisling Project is delighted to be associated with this wonderful Irish Women in Harmony song in tribute to Sinéad O’Connor," Clear said.
