MacGowan is set to wed on Monday after an 11-year engagement
Johnny Depp is set to rock out at Shane MacGowan’s wedding to Victoria Mary Clarke on November 26 in Copenhagen.
Speaking with The Independent, MacGowan’s longtime fiancee Victoria Mary Clarke shared details about the day that the couple had initially wanted to keep secret.
Clarke said, “Shane and I are both introverts and we decided that the only solution was to just elope together to someplace that we know nobody and nobody knows us, and keep it a secret.”
“But I have discovered something about weddings that I had not realized. People really, really want to show that they love the people that they care about.”
“So, much as we might have liked our wedding to be a non-event, and because we have found it impossible to keep it a total secret, a few of our friends and family have elected to make it a tiny but beautiful thing.”
Clarke also revealed that “Johnny Depp is going to be the wedding guitarist.”
Depp and MacGowan have been friends for decades. In 1994, Depp featured on MacGowan’s album The Snake. In January, the actor performed at MacGowan’s 60th birthday celebrations in Dublin.
Of MacGowan, Depp has said, “He’s a magnificent man and species. He’s a special being.”
