A nasty case of E. coli bacterial infection has forced Elton John to postpone his final date of his Red Piano world tour in Ireland at
Dublin's O2 venue.

An announcement on his official website explained that he had not recovered in time for Saturday's performance.

"He is bitterly disappointed not to [be] playing Dublin," John's spokesperson said. "He had picked Dublin to close the 'Red Piano'
[tour] worldwide, because of the great warmth of the people and the great concerts he had in the city over many years."

"He is hoping to reschedule the dates in the very near future."

Fans have been advised by promoters to keep hold of their tickets and await further details as they attempt to reschedule the dates.

Dublin is just the latest venue to be postponed because of John's illnesss. He also pulled out of several US and British gigs in the past few days.
