According to movie industry insiders - Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson is in final talks to join the cast of “The Kitchen”.

If the rumors are true, Gleeson will join a stellar lineup which already includes Elisabeth Moss, Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, and Margo Martindale.

The movie is set in the gritty New York neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen during the 1970s. It follows the ruthless wives of Irish gangsters - who in an epic turn of events become even more immersed in the mob world when their husbands are thrown into jail.

As per Deadline, Gleeson looks set to play a Vietnam war vet turned hitman named Gabriel O'Malley. O'Malley has skipped town to avoid being locked up, and eventually returns to settle the score with the female kingpins.

The movie, based on comic books, is a directorial debut for Andrea Berloff.

Berloff, who also wrote the screenplay, was previously nominated for an Oscar for her work on "Straight Outta Compton".

The DC/Vertigo film has a release date of September 20, 2019, and is set to begin filming in May.

Gleeson, the son of legendary actor Brendan, has seen his career go from strength to strength.

His most recent roles include parts in "Star Wars", "Goodbye Christopher Robin", and "Peter Rabbit".
