The Dubliner is no stranger to making drastic transformations for his roles, and while his latest look is not quite as wild as his "The Penguin" get-up, he's sporting a different appearance.

The actor is starring in the psychological thriller "Ballad of a Small Player", and judging by the suspenseful trailer, it looks like we are in for a wild ride!

We are set to see Colin's gambling addict character go on a spiritual journey of sorts.

So, here is everything to know about the thriller...

What is the movie about?

The film follows a high-stakes gambler named Lord Doyle (Farrell) whose world begins collapsing around him. During this ordeal, he encounters a new pal. He meets this friend after fleeing to Macau in China, where he is lying low.

"Lord Doyle is laying low in Macau – spending his days and nights on the casino floors, drinking heavily and gambling what little money he has left," the film's synopsis reads.

"Struggling to keep up with his fast-rising debts, he is offered a lifeline by the mysterious Dao Ming (Fala Chen), a casino employee with secrets of her own.

"However, in hot pursuit is Cynthia Blithe (Tilda Swinton) – a private investigator ready to confront Doyle with what he is running from. As Doyle tries to climb to salvation, the confines of reality start to close in," the synopsis ends.

"Ballad of a Small Player" is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by British author Lawrence Osborne, which was published in 2014. It has been adapted for the screen by Rowan Joffe, who is behind "28 Weeks Later."
