The Homeland actress is very private when it comes to her children, doesn’t share them on social media, and has never publicly shared her youngest child’s name before.

Speaking during Amy Poehler’s "Good Hang" podcast, Claire discussed motherhood and her toddler while dropping the name into the conversation.

Describing how fun parenting can be, Claire said of her little girl: "I love watching toddlers dance when they jump [and] do the bouncing thing.

"And Shay, my baby, she’s very in her head and dreamy and sometimes she’ll do this kind of [head-swaying] dance. I’m like, 'That’s fabulous.'"

She also admitted that she had been making a onesie for her daughter, but it remained unfinished, even though her daughter was too old for it now. "I have [an unfinished onesie] for Shay, this third child,’ she told Amy.

"I’ve missed that chance. I’m confessing. I’m actually confessing to you. It’s by my bed, half-done". Relatable!

The name Shay is of Irish origin and is derived from the surname Shea, O’Shea or Ó Séaghdha. Danes and Dancy also chose an Irish name for their second child, a little boy born in 2018.

His name is Rowan, a gender-neutral Irish name meaning "little red one" or "red-haired". It comes from the name Ruadhán, which has the same meaning.

The couple are also parents to another son, born in 2012, named Cyrus, meaning "like the sun".

Elsewhere in the podcast, Claire spoke about the shock of finding out she was pregnant at 40. She underwent two rounds of IVF to conceive her second child, so thought a spontaneous pregnancy wasn’t "physically possible" for her.
