Charlie Sheen will be using his birth name, Carlos Estevez, in the credits of upcoming Robert Rodriguez film “Machete Kills."

Sheen has revealed that he took the name Charlie when he was a child to avoid confusion with his Uncle who was also named Carlos. Charlie’s father, Martin Sheen, was born Ramon Antonio Gerardo Estevez but took the stage name ‘Sheen’ when he began his acting career. He did not legally change the name however, and passed the Estevez name down to his four children. Speaking to James Lipton on an episode of “Inside the Actor’s Studio”, Martin said:  "I started using Sheen, I thought I'd give it a try, and before I knew it, I started making a living with it and then it was too late." He also admitted that the dropping of the name was a point of tension in the family, saying, "In fact, one of my great regrets is that I didn't keep my name as it was given to me. I knew it bothered my dad," writes the Huffington Post.

As well as Sheen, the cast of "Machete Kills" includes Sofia Sofia Vergara, Mel Gibson, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Lady Gaga with Danny Trejo playing the title role. Sheen will reportedly play the President of the United States. "Machete Kills" will be released on September 2013.
