Disney EMEA announced yesterday that their newest project, ‘Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja,’ will be produced in Ireland with a mostly Irish team working on it. The new cartoon has several award-winning names attached to it already.

IFTN reports that the new production will be a welcome boost for Irish animation house Boulder Media, which will manage the cartoon from animation through post-production.

‘Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja’ is described as a fast-paced and action-packed cartoon series that features the title character protecting his school from certain destruction through the instruction of ‘Ninja-ing,’ an 800 year old instruction manual. The series will be produced by Boulder Media in Ireland and Titmouse Inc in Los Angeles for Disney XD and will be aired in 129 countries.

Such voicing talents as Megan Mullaly, Tim Curry, and John Oliver have been confirmed as regulars on the series. Guest voice spots will include Andy Dick, Andy Richter, and Sterling Knight.

“Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja is our most global production yet,” said Tricia Wilber, Chief Marketing Officer, The Walt Disney Company, EMEA & General Manager, Disney Channels EMEA.

“Driven by the team here in London, the series draws on talent from both sides of the Atlantic to help create a world class show. We are thrilled to be working with the outstanding teams at Boulder in Ireland and Titmouse in LA on this project.”

Producer Anne Tweedy added that, “We have recruited some of the best animators, BG artists and compositors from Finland, Italy, Poland, Denmark, England, Scotland, Spain and Portugal, though the majority of the crew is Irish. We are fortunate to have a highly skilled core crew and we have found the additional crew is adding to our company’s strength in creativity and production.”
