Irish pals Sean O'Shea and Michael Orr are on a mission to donate their Irish language board game Botín to every school on the island of Ireland.

O'Shea and Orr describe Botín, which they believe is the first and only Irish-English board game, as "a fast-paced, cops-and-robbers race across all 32 counties of Ireland."

The board game, which is suited for both beginners and those looking to improve their Irish, offers a combination of images, text, video, audio, and social game playing to "show you what Irish Gaelic/Gaeilge sounds like and will hopefully encourage you to learn more about our heritage and rich language."

As well as teaching vocabulary and place names, Botín also teaches history and heritage.

It's a "fast and funny way to make Gaeilge more accessible and enjoyable for young people," O'Shea and Orr say.

The game is "designed for fun, not exams," the creators say, who add that the board game has been tested in schools, endorsed by teachers, and supported by Enterprise Ireland.

O'Shea and Orr say: "Kids want to play it. Teachers want it in the classroom. Parents love it too — especially when their kids teach them some Gaeilge."

The duo has now launched a GoFundMe to give one free game to every one of the schools on the island of Ireland.

"We created this bilingual board game to bring Gaeilge into homes and classrooms in a fun way," O'Shea and Orr said.

"Now, we’re raising funds to send it FREE to schools – north and south - no profit, just printing and delivery."

For every €30 donated, one school can receive the bilingual Irish board game - and donors will receive a thank-you from the game's creators.

Donors who give €50 will have their name placed on a digital thank-you scroll, and donors who give €100 will have the game delivered to them to present to their sponsored school with a presentation certificate (in Ireland only).

Donations of €500+ will have their name / logo on the Wall of Irish Heritage and a Certificate of Irish Heritage.
